| 7. Easy to use. If there already is a mic hole in your HAPI Drum simply place the mic inside the instrument and push the threaded end through the mic hole. Screw the supplied nut onto the threads from the outside of the instrument and the mic is now installed. Now bend the Duo.Flex Mic’s flexible goose-neck to position each mic in different areas of the instrument. For instruments without a mic hole, simply place the mic inside the instrument and adjust the goose-neck or use the Velcro straps to secure it to the outside. |
| Helpful recording hints: |
| To adjust the slider audio level, slide toward the jack end of the assembly for minimum level. Slide it all the way toward the mic end of the assembly for maximum level. For HAPI Drums start with the slider set to about 75% of maximum. Look at the recording levels on your choice of recording device or software. Adjust the slider up or down in about 10% increments to see changes. You will want to be able to see the recording levels as loud as possible but without any clipping of the loudest points. We generally set the Duo.Flex Mic so that the loudest peaks are about 80% of the maximum possible reading. That ensures there will be no clipping of the sound during play. That’s it! |
| To capture the best sound of your instrument, experiment with positioning the two mics in different places. For example in HAPI Drums one mic an inch from the center top and one very near the bottom port provides great sound capture. However, on the HAPI UFO this puts the top mic very close to the middle note. Moving the mic down toward the middle of the drum gives a more balanced sound. |
| On a didgeridoo for example, one mic an inch out from the bell and the other fully extended out as far as possible is a great starting place. |
